Kat Lee Rivers is a vocalist and songwriter whose music weaves together the rich textures of Americana, jazz, and Brazilian rhythms. A finalist in the 2014 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Competition and recipient of multiple DownBeat awards, Rivers' artistry is marked by both technical prowess and emotional depth. Her debut album, "Anything but Ordinary," showcased her original songwriting and genre-bending approach, blending sophisticated jazz harmonies with Americana storytelling and Brazilian warmth.
Following a period of vocal recovery, Rivers (locals know her as Kat Selman!) has returned with a renewed sense of vulnerability and strength, drawing from her diverse experiences living and performing across the globe, including Spain, Texas, Los Angeles, and New York City. She has graced stages from intimate house concerts to esteemed venues like the now-closed Cornelia Street Cafe and Rockwood Music Hall, and notably performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra backing Ben Folds. Currently based in the Hudson Valley, she continues to explore the intersection of her musical passions, crafting authentic stories with a voice that resonates deeply.
Kat Lee Rivers' new album project, currently in development with Grammy-winning guitarist and producer Bob Lanzetti (Snarky Puppy), represents a significant exploration of her current artistic vision. This collection of original songs will showcase Kat's vocal storytelling, emphasizing a nuanced and evocative delivery, alongside Mr. Lanzetti’s distinctive guitar style. The resulting sound will draw upon the rich traditions of Americana and folk music, while maintaining a commitment to original composition and authentic musical expression. The album aims to capture a timeless quality, reflecting an 'old soul' sensibility through intricate melodies and dynamic arrangements.
Bob Lanzetti is a Grammy Award-winning guitarist, composer, and producer currently based in Charleston, SC. Best known for his integral role in the multi-Grammy® Award-winning jazz/funk collective, Snarky Puppy, Lanzetti has performed and recorded across the globe, contributing as a writer, arranger, and guitarist on all of the band's releases. His work with Snarky Puppy has garnered him five Grammy Awards, including Best Contemporary Instrumental Album in 2023 for "Empire Central."
Beyond his work with Snarky Puppy, Lanzetti is a sought-after session guitarist, composer, and producer, collaborating with artists such as Tommy Sims, Cory Henry, and Bilal. He leads his own quartet, releasing his debut album "Whose Feet are These That are Walking" to critical acclaim, and has composed original scores for film, including a 2020 commission for "Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror." Most recently, he formed the trio Brock, Lanzetti, Ogawa with fellow Snarky Puppy members, releasing their debut album "Drawing Songs" on GroundUp Music.
Bassist and composer Matt Aronoff has been praised for his musicianship at the highest level, paired with an incredibly emotional connection with the crowd (Jazz Advocate). He has been deeply involved in the New York music scene since 2008, when he graduated from Manhattan School of Music and began touring with Grammy-nominated singer Luciana Souza.
